I’m shared before how to weave stripes in your weaves, but I just tried weaving stripes in a circular weave and I LOVE it! Stripes look so great in weaves, they really grab the eye. I think most beginners are put off by the stripes because they appear to be hard, but really if you can plain weave then you can definitely weave stripes. So let’s get started…
In case you missed the stripes the first time I posted on them, here is a review of the process:
step 1| plain weave your first color, when you reach the end of the row loop around the warp to anchor your weft thread
step 2| plain weave your second color
step 3| plain weave your first color in the third row. You will be weaving over and under the same warp threads that you did in the first row.
step 4| interlock the two colored threads at the end of the warp then continue in the pattern of each color is woven every other row.
Weaving stripes in a regular (vertical) weave is the same as weaving stripes in a circular weave, but the pattern gets a really interesting look in the circular weave. I used the dove tail join to continue with my solid white color.
Check out my full circular weave on my Instagram.
Have you tried weaving stripes yet? Or another Weaving Technique? I’d love to hear about what you’re working on.
Happy Weaving!

October 16, 2016 at 1:20 pmHi, it is the exact same way in the circular and the normal warped looms, but I shared photos of the normal because it’s easier to follow the over/under and what you do with the sides when crossing your different colored threads.
